XScanner is designed with a local-processing-first approach. Standard document scanning, ID scanning, QR scanning, and standard OCR are processed locally on your device. We do not collect, view, or store your scanned documents on our servers.
Thank you for choosing to be part of our community at RS Apps Studio ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy.
This Privacy Policy governs the privacy policies and practices of our mobile application, XScanner (the "App").
By using XScanner, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
A. Personal Information You Provide to Us
If you choose to create an account, we collect the following information:
- Account Information: Your email address, authentication credentials (via Firebase Auth or Google Sign-In), and basic profile details.
- User Support: Information you provide when contacting us for support (e.g., via email or WhatsApp).
B. User-Generated Content & Processing
🔒 Local Processing — Zero Data Tracking
Standard document scanning, ID scanning, QR scanning, and standard text OCR (Optical Character Recognition) are processed locally on your device using Google ML Kit. We do not collect, view, or store your scanned documents on our servers.
- AI Handwritten OCR & Voice-to-Text: If you use our advanced AI OCR or Voice-to-Text features, the specific image or audio data selected is securely transmitted to our cloud backend (Firebase Cloud Functions / Google Cloud) solely for processing. This data is not stored permanently and is discarded immediately after the text extraction is complete.
- Signatures & Resumes: Signatures created or imported, and resumes generated within the app are saved locally on your device.
C. Automatically Collected Information
To improve the App's performance and stability, we automatically collect certain information when you use the App:
- Device & Usage Data: Device model, operating system version, app version, launch counts, and feature usage statistics (e.g., number of scans performed).
- Crash & Performance Reports: Anonymous crash logs and performance metrics to help us fix bugs (via Firebase Crashlytics).
- Push Notification Tokens: We collect Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) tokens to send you important updates and alerts.
2. Permissions Required by the App
To provide its core functionalities, XScanner requests the following device permissions:
- Camera: Required to scan documents, ID cards, and QR codes.
- Microphone: Required strictly for the Voice-to-Text note creation feature. We do not listen to or record audio outside of this specific feature.
- Notifications: Required to send you app updates, processing statuses, and promotional offers.
- Storage / Photo Library: Required to import images for editing, saving PDFs to your device, or creating signature files.
3. Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party services to power specific features of the App. These services may collect information as per their own privacy policies:
Used for on-device scanning, edge detection, and local OCR.
If you opt-in to "Cloud Explorer" or "Google Drive Sync", the App requests access (drive.file scope) to create, view, and manage only the files created by XScanner in your Google Drive.
We use Firebase Authentication, Firestore Database, Cloud Functions, and Analytics. User metadata such as Premium status and last active date is stored securely in Firestore.
We display advertisements to non-Premium users. AdMob may use cookies and mobile advertising identifiers, such as Android Advertising ID, to serve personalized ads.
Used for processing Premium subscriptions and lifetime purchases securely. We do not have access to your raw credit card information.
4. How We Use Your Information
- To Provide the Service: Creating your PDFs, extracting text, syncing to your Google Drive, and managing your Premium subscription.
- To Improve the App: Analyzing usage trends and crash reports to make XScanner faster and more reliable.
- To Communicate: Sending you FCM push notifications regarding app updates, features, and subscription offers.
- To Serve Ads: Displaying relevant AdMob banner and interstitial ads to free users.
5. Data Security
Your data security is our top priority.
- Secure Authentication: Account credentials and Premium status are managed securely via Firebase Auth.
- Local Storage First: All your scanned files, folders, and notes remain on your physical device unless you explicitly choose to upload them to Google Drive or share them via third-party apps.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
- Local Data: You can delete your scanned documents, signatures, and notes at any time directly within the App. Uninstalling the app will also remove local app data.
- Cloud Data: You can delete files synced to Google Drive via the App's "Cloud Explorer" or directly in your Google Drive account.
- Account Deletion: You can request the deletion of your account and associated metadata by contacting us. Upon request, we will delete your Firestore profile data and Firebase Auth record.
7. Children's Privacy
XScanner does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13.
If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers.
If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the Effective Date.
You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
